Sorry, that bit wasn't very clear. My understanding is that
InstallInitialize begins a batch. InstallExecute executes that batch and
begins a new batch, but still within the transaction - I presume you'd use
it if for some reason you had a custom action that you couldn't make

Hi all, I've asked a similar question before, but after much slamming of my

This will install the package for all users and all the admins can see it in
add/remove then. Your package thinks it's user specific, when clearly it's not.

Hi again.
I'm just about ready to go, and while testing today, I notice that one of my

I've put it in the UIInstallSequence thus:

What I've seen implies that the UI sequence isn't run o

Hi,
I am just getting started with WiX 3.
I was wondering if there is a way to convert a registry file to WiX 3

Here's a snippet from the registry file:

Hi guys,
I have a problem that I'd like to install file and use it as part of a CA,
but before the registry is written. Initially this seemed easy enough by
sequencing the CA within the InstallExecute sequence somewhere between

I have also modified my wix.targets file to make the build work, but I was
really hoping that I wouldn't have to do that.
I am using a directory name for the "CompileObjOutput" item. That makes the
"Compile" target work fine. Then to make the "Lib" target work, I removed

Not sure if this is a WiX issue, but I will see what you all have to say
Here's the situation:
Created an MSI (always created with the same GUIDS as I am still creating
the initial package to be released)
Installed it as a Domain Admin (and Domain Admins are part of the local

That certainly works from the command line.
But doesn't using the msbuild 'Compile' target. The only way to make it

Hi,
I read somewhere that user access to the Program Files directory is
severely limited in Vista and therefor programs databases and other
writeable files should not be stored there.
