Tunneling works with VNC, but isn't a really satisfactory
solution for several reasons.
(1) it's a pain to set up initially,
(2) even if used properly, the insecure VNC port is still open.
(3) using a tunnel server opens another point of attack on the host
machine: for example, ZeBeDee's

I use VNCConnector rather than VNC Commander and it has an option to send a
message. Before I Access the PC I send the message and then access the PC.
I am not sure if VNC Commander has this option.

This is a common question for someone just starting to use WinVNC.
to send a alt or ctrl key to the remote host you have to do it in four
steps.
1) Right click on the Window Title section, this will bring up a pop up menu
for you to choose from.
2) Select Alt Down this will be interpreted by t

WinVNC Service Helper does not have to run for WinVNC to run.

I don't know if Handspring hacked the OS or not, but with Palm OS 3.5.x and
4.x, when the Palm is turned off it will disconnect any network connections
you have in place.

I have made the "please incorporate this technology" overture
to both VNC and TightVNC, bu
VNC does not pass the ctrl and alt keys through to the server PC.
To send ctrl-a, you need to right click anywhere on the window header and
you will see a drop down menu appear. Click on Ctrl Down, then type the
letter A and then press the ctrl key again.

I'm not sure if you can have this running in a folder or not. I have it in
the server root. The share desktop option is shown in the java applet once
you get it loaded.

/usr/local/bin first instead of your user bin directory (or now that I think
