Hello, We are experiencing problems with our virus scanner as of today we had an update of the virus definitions Winvnc.exe is seen as a virus. Are more people having this problem and does anyone have a solution for it, or maybe there is a fast way for us VNC users to make clear to Mcaffee that VN

Thanx for your reaction but with the virus definitions 4.0.4119 i didn't had the problem either, we are using VNC for ages now ( like 2 years or so ) so it wasn't a new installation. Probably if you download the new virus definitions 4.0.4120 from 7 Feb like i mentioned in the topic you will get

I corrected the problem putting the ORL directory on the exclude list of Vshield and renaming back WinVNC.exe.vir back to WinVnc.exe. That was a lot of work,but worked well. BTW,What about heuristics scanning? It's a valuable feature or can be disabled with no penalty to security? Disabling it g

At least in Win NT 4.0, U can remove the registry key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run\"(path to WinVNC.exe) -servicehelper" Do a logoff, logon. The icon in Systray will not appear anymore. This is good to avoid users to change passords, port numbers e etc. Regards, Luis M
