Hi Maikel,
I just made a full scan of my system using NetShield NT 4.0.3 (Network

Thanx for your reaction but with the virus definitions 4.0.4119 i didn't
had the problem either, we are using VNC for ages now ( like 2 years or so )
so it wasn't a new installation.
Probably if you download the new virus definitions 4.0.4120 from 7 Feb like

I just installed the 4.0.4120 as well, but I have no virus warning

Hi Maikel,
Like Dries Feys I installed the latest virus definitions 4120 and rescanned
my

Therefore again: Try to get rid of the virus (including a complete
deinstallation of VNC) and then download a clean version.
Additionally you could consult the McAf

Folks,
Why no-one checked the McAfee site before this is a bit of a mystery.

McAfee are aware of a false alarm on the file 'WinVNC.exe' with the 4120 DAT
set. The file is falsely identified as having a 'New Backdoor Trojan'
infection when scanned with Heuristics enabled. The McAfee Virus Lab have
produced an Extra.DAT file which can act as a temporary fix to this iss

I corrected the problem putting the ORL directory on the exclude list of Vshield

That was a lot of work, but worked well.

At least in Win NT 4.0, U can remove the registry key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run\"(path to WinVNC.exe)
-servicehelper"
Do a logoff, logon.
The icon in Systray will not appear anymore.
This is good to avoid users to change passords, port numbers e etc.

Hi,
my vncserver is setup to use port 80. Connections can be done from outside
via the internet to my server.
Some people, which have access to the internet, can't connect to my server
because they are sitting behind a firewall.
What setup must they do on there firewall to connect to my server?

Can anyone tell me is there a shortcut key for Ctrl-Alt-Del when vnc'ing, as
it is rather annoying having to keep going to the top left menu and
scrolling down the menu to select it, or maybe have a button on the toolbar.
Let us know
Thanks in advance

Hello, all,
I have successfully compiled VNC 3.3.3r2 for HP-UX 10.20, and the
executables are available at my Web page

If you are using NT or Win9x you can use the regedit /s filename option. Create a
registry
file with the settings you want and then run regedit (or regedt32) with the /s to
import the
registry file changes.
