Hi Werner,
I got Mentor Software to run on a VNC-generated screen.

Hello all,
We are using VNC to control our 4 servers (all NT4SP6) at our schoolintranet via a
dialup ISDN-line from home. One of them is directly dialed in to and that's the one
never giving any problems but the other 3 do!
Every 5 to 8 minutes working with one of them the connection is lost
Hi,
is there any plan, to implement a feature that tells you WHO is already
connected to some client? What I mean is, if you connect to a client, where
someone already is connected, you can set "CennectPriority" to "2" to deny
the new connection, which is good. But since we have quite a few

this sounds cool. Exactly what we want, one password for the machine!

Another question on this: Does it also prevent different port settings for
different users?

I have to say that I prefer newsgroups too. Less traffic for our
mail-servers.

I have started the process to create the newsgroup alt.comp.vnc. I have

A week later, I will submit the command to create the group. I will post to

Hola David!
did you manage to get your vncserver running?
To complete my last answer I appended the differences between the original
vncserver and the one modified to meet my need. There you can see which fonts
will work and which session manager to start to get a CDE session. I'm still

That is entirely up to you. However, I still plan on going through with
this process. I believe that there is sufficient interest in VNC to support
both a mailing list and a newsgroup. If you are happy with the list, I'm
glad. I however believe that the VNC community would be better served if
I would prefer a newsgroup, its easier to follow sequences of messages and
replies etc.

Not with the CDE. By now I'm very busy and have little time to
test it, but maybe next week I will restart the investigation.

It's not like anyone is taking away the mailing list, guys. He is only
adding a news group as a very good option. Let's not get all uptight about
it, alright?
Thanks,

I'll make sure AT&T Worldnet adds it to their servers. Thanks for your

If its a windows client, you could probably climb into their NetBIOS and
find out their logon ID, the name of the client, all sorts. Depends if
they've got it all turned on, and on a LAN its very likely. I've seen this
information appear at the server end of other client/server apps, but I

I have vncserver running on solaris 7 workstation as a

I am able to run on his workstation and he can not, so

That turns off the local cursor. I want to zap the remote one and keep the
local dot.
I did try changing the cursor in the control panel to a blank graphic, but

After several posts to the alt.config group, I have been convinced that this
group would be better served as a comp.* group (probably
comp.sys.software.vnc). I have therefore converted my proposal to
alt.config into an Request for Discussion (RFD). I hope to post the RFD
within the next two week
