I have vncserver running on solaris 7 workstation as a csh user with no problems. Now I have a user who uses tcsh and can not seem to get vncserver running. I am able to run on his workstation and he can not, so I know it is his environment. Yes DISPLAY is set. Yes tcsh is in /etc/shells. We both use CDE. The only difference between he and I is that I use csh and he uses tcsh. Here is the log file he gets when he runs vncserver on his workstation (mars) _XSERVTransSocketCreateListener: failed to bind listener _XSERVTransSocketUNIXCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed _XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to create listener for local Fatal server error: Failed to establish all listening sockets xrdb: Interrupted system call xrdb: Can't open display 'mars:2' xsetroot: unable to open display 'mars:2' xterm Xt error: Can't open display: mars:2 Here is the log file I get when I run vncserver on his workstation (mars) 22/01/01 10:48:12 Xvnc version 3.3.3r2 22/01/01 10:48:12 Copyright (C) AT&T Laboratories Cambridge. 22/01/01 10:48:12 All Rights Reserved. 22/01/01 10:48:12 See http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc for information on VNC 22/01/01 10:48:12 Desktop name 'X' (mars:1) 22/01/01 10:48:12 Protocol version supported 3.3 22/01/01 10:48:12 Listening for VNC connections on TCP port 5901 22/01/01 10:48:12 Listening for HTTP connections on TCP port 5801 22/01/01 10:48:12 URL http://mars:5801 22/01/01 10:49:29 Got connection from client xxx.xxx.xxx.188 22/01/01 10:49:29 Protocol version 3.3 22/01/01 10:49:34 Pixel format for client xxx.xxx.xxx.188: 22/01/01 10:49:34 8 bpp, depth 8 22/01/01 10:49:34 true colour: max r 7 g 7 b 3, shift r 0 g 3 b 6 22/01/01 10:49:34 no translation needed 22/01/01 10:49:34 Using hextile encoding for client xxx.xxx.xxx.188 22/01/01 10:49:34 rfbProcessClientNormalMessage: ignoring unknown encoding type3 22/01/01 10:49:53 Client xxx.xxx.xxx.188 gone 22/01/01 10:49:53 Statistics: 22/01/01 10:49:53 key events received 1, pointer events 92 22/01/01 10:49:53 framebuffer updates 93, rectangles 248, bytes 403543 22/01/01 10:49:53 hextile rectangles 248, bytes 403543 22/01/01 10:49:53 raw bytes equivalent 820427, compression ratio 2.033060 Virginia Baca Network Administrator Applied Technology Development - America Sony Technology Center 16450 West Bernardo Drive / MZ 7315 San Diego, CA 92127-1804 Voice: 858-942-4842 Pager: 888-622-0788 Fax: 858-942-9171 email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send a message with the line: unsubscribe vnc-list to [EMAIL PROTECTED] See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------
