I saw this several times on the list but I could not find the solution to
the problem.

I have a Linux and a NT box. Running VNC as a server on the Linux and VNC as
viewer in listen mode on the NT. There are no problems connection each other
as server or viewer. But now, I do not understand the following.

Connecting to the Linux box with SSH and making a reverse connection with

vncconnect -display linux:1.0 winnt

Works fine!

Running an X-server on the NT and displaying a xterm window on the NT box
and then giving the same command, gives the following error:

Xlib: connection to "linux:1.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect ot Server
vncconnect: unable to open display "linux:1.0"

Why can't vncconnect, running in the shell displayed in a xterm window on my
Windows NT's X-server, connect to that VNC server still running fine on the
Linux box?

Is this a question of operating system security? Isn't that possible and
why? Where is the difference in running vncconnect in a SSH connection shell and
the xterm shell? I think there must be a simple explanation but I could not
figure out...

Thank you
Thomas
