When I start the viewer on a Windows 98 client, it doesn't ask me for a

does ask for the password.
Does anyone know what to do about this?

We are using RunVNCViewer to start a simple client. Our needs are very

Yes, we reinstalled, and restarted. The error we get is "failed to connect
to server". I don't see how it can connect seeing as how we don't give it a
password, but then it doesn't ask for one. There's a window that displays on
my Windows 2000 that asks for a password. This doesn't display on Wind
I'm assuming that you have a working network? Can you ping the server?

Eric,
There are two other software packages which we use to control OS/2 from
Windows, they are:
1) Remote Services Managment (formerly called Poly/PM) the one I prefer
2) NetOp
The problem with these packages for myself is cost and having to deal with
serial numbers etc. I would love to have

To me, it sounds like the neighbor's ThinkPad can't talk IP to the server.
Try unplugging your ethernet and then connecting to a host. It'll take a
long time, and then time out with "can't connect

Does the session work OK? If so, I'd say this is normal - I get it all the

If the program then terminates, then I'm afraid this isn't a very helpful

The vnc startup script I've got working (Solaris 2.6) is as follows:
#!/bin/sh
xrdb $HOME/.Xresources
xsetroot -solid black
xterm -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" &
/usr/dt/bin/Xsession &
xsetroot was a workaround for the fact that the X desktop always came up

IBM's Decaf, as well.
If you want a really costly solution, Tivoli has a remote access component
which /might/ work over OS2. Never felt like checking!

Log? Where? I cannot find it anywhere on the server or host machine. I
have it running primarily on Windows 2000 machines. How do you start the
log and where is it located? I couldn't find it in the FAQ or docs.

Hello.
There was a problem in the latest Xvnc CoRRE implementation: the code
refused to check return values after writing data to clients; this
caused Xvnc crashes after next write operation on closed descriptor.
The fix is included below.

Hello,
I am having a big problem related to key mapping. I have searched the mail

problem I have (altought some had a very similar problem). 99% of my keys

But the online VNC documentation says, I wil have to
use iXvnc for -inetd option.
Is this a bug in documentaion ?
