If you are starting Xvnc with inetd, try using -query
instead of -broadcast.

I am trying to install/configure VNC on multiple OSes. I have been
successful on Solaris 8 but when trying to get it working on Linux have
been quite unsuccessful.
I have installed and configured VNC to run via inetd (works on Solaris 8
