Brian,
Are you running your vnc viewer in listen mode?

Tom,
I can see your confusion. I should have explained myself much better.
I have several OSes (one on each) on separate machines.
I did a check (including DNS) to make sure that the IP addresses of the
RH6.2 and Sol8 machines were indeed different, which they were. I can
certainly understand that only the Solaris machine should respond to the
connection request to the Solaris hostname which is why I'm really
confused.
I can connect to the RH6.2 box if I start a vncserver process manually.
I tried the request from several different Windows2000 machines - each with
the same result, connecting to my Solaris machine. I at first was going to
have all of my machines running Xnvc on the same port (which shouldn't
cause any problems since the requests are host specific) and then changed
the ports (restarting inetd after each change) but everything I do results
in the same action - connecting to that ^&%$#@ Solaris machine.
Brian Street.

Brain-
I'm a little confused. Is this on one machine with multiple OS's or is this
on several different machines each with a different OS? If you have
seperate
machines the only way the Solaris machine would be accessed when you intend
to access the RedHat machine is if you didn't type in the correct name or
IP
address when you started your viewer. Could you give us some more details?

Hello,
I am trying to install/configure VNC on multiple OSes. I have been
successful on Solaris 8 but when trying to get it working on Linux have
been quite unsuccessful.
I have installed and configured VNC to run via inetd (works on Solaris 8)
on RH 6.2. When I try to connect to my RH box the Solaris box responds.
I've changed ports to no avail.
What am I missing?
Thanks for your help,
Brian Street.
