[Alain] I have 2.6.361 installed on Win98Se and it works without any
notable performance degradation.

Several people (including myself) have posted here in recent months having
experienced a problem using VNC with ZoneAlarm (free firewall software).
The problem being that VNC performance drops to an unusable level if
ZoneAlarm is enabled.
I used to have this problem myself.
However, I tried VNC
Try changing "call" to "start" in your batch file.

Another idea, but working only if ZoneAlarm creates a temporary
file when started, with always the same name (maybe you could
delete the log file at every restart, if you've got no use of it
?). So you could try to start ZoneAlarm normally and to start
VNC with a batch file like this.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it. Same thing happens...
ZoneALarm starts... but the next command is never executed and
it's like it's waiting for the application to finish before proceeding
onto the next line... so the batch file is 'suspended'.
I basically have to kill the window a
For the batch file, try to put CALL before the zone alarm line,
as I remember that depending on the program started from the
batch file, then batch file is terminated, unless this command
was used.
So it'd be:
call "c:\Program Files\ZoneAlarm\zonealarm.exe" -nopopup
"c:\Program Files\ORL\VNC\Win
Actually, I am confused. How do you edit ZoneAlarm
to allow specific ports to be open ? Do you need
ZoneAlarm PRO for that?
Besides, ZoneAlarm is set to recognize to allow
VNC to work... How does the sequence of which
starts first, affect ZoneAlarm's ability to allow
VNC to listen to port 5800
I am the one who had problems with win98 and Zone
Alarm and got no response so far.
Hope I can help. You can edit Zone Alarm to allow the
ports you need to have open for Zone Alarm to work.
Then the order in which the service start won't
matter. I had a similar problem but fixed it by
allowing
Hi,
I searched through the archives and saw that someone
was having reboot problems with Win2K and VNC. I also
noticed someone indicating that they were having
problems when VNC and ZoneAlarm were combined.
I have all three as part of my configuration, although
I don't have the 'reboot' problem
