Howdy,
I have been trying to set VNC to AllowLoopback. I read the directions on the
website. However, I can't find an AllowLoopback entry anywhere in the Windows
registry. Do I have to create a new key? If so, how do I do this? (I run Win98
SE.)
Thanks,

Hi, Ronnie.
The problem is that you put AllowLoopback to the wrong place.
It must go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3.

Windows. What is the easiest and most fool proof way to accomplish
this? The only information I get from local Windows gurus is that I
should not edit the registry, which is not particularly helpful.

Miro,
Thanks for that - it was doing my head in. Yes, I understand about the
LoopbackOnly setting overriding other settings - now that I have it working
I have removed the AllowLoopback key completely from the server.

Miroslav,
Thanks - I wasn't certain exactly what you meant below, as I have been
setting my forward to a.b.c.d exactly like I said.
However, I decided to set up a forward to 127.0.0.1, and it worked.
Here are my current, working settings:

I used to have the same problem. Using -L ...:127.0.0.1:... instead of -L

Hi,
I have a problem with VNC and SSH tunneling setup.
I want a LoopbackOnly setup for security reasons.
But when I add LoopbackOnly, I can't connect anymore.
When I connect and only have the AllowLoopback-Value set, I can
connect fine, but (of course) everyone else can. So I think my
No. Make sure you put the registry setting in the correct place
