It seems to me that the point of the disclaimer is not to make it possible

Isn't that just within Microsoft apps (or others that adopt the Microsoft
approach)? More generally, if I understand correctly, one may use

Are you a unix person? '~' is your home directory. Try this:
cd ~
cd .vnc
ls
do you see xstartup?
Should see it this way too:
ls ~/.vnc/xstartup

Do you mean a precompiled gcc? It's here:

There are a few versions to choose from fo

Can anyone recommend a freely-available ssh server for Windows? (I didn't
even know that one existed.)
It's easy to get a good scp client for Windows

I'm in the same situation. I use Shift-Insert to paste from the clipboard
into the VNCviewer window, but I have a problem. Whe

Has anyone seen this? I hope it doesn't open a security hole in VNC.
The article suggests that VNC is "potentially vulnerable."

Did you mean -pn ? That makes sense. From the man page:
-pn Accept failure to listen on all ports.

Thanks. I tried a different Sun and it did *not* crash. That Sun is
running Solaris 2.5.1 while the others were running Solaris 2.6. All

Please tell me if this has been discussed previously or repaired in later
versions of VNC. I think I'm running Xvnc 3.3.1 (installed Jan 4, 2000),
but it doesn't look like I can get Xvnc to give me a version number. I'm
running Solaris 2.6 on two machines and the problem occurs on both
machines.
