Hi Alan,
I have been using pcAnywhere to synchronize data between my office and home
for the last 10 years.
Now, I installed DSL internal modem to my office computer. It seems that
there was a sort of software conflict between pcAnywhere and DSL (from
Qwest). I can connect to playwear in the r
Regarding my recent post about font paths, I have discovered that one
of the paths in my font path was not friendly and i have removed it.
Thanks to tightvnc for making this more accessible!

Andrzej,
The first and second patches have been applied in the TightVNC 1.2.3
source. I do not know about the 3.3.3r9 source, but probably is the
correct answer. There are some DNS overflows that are still possible,
but the Securiteam issues have been fixed.
Thanks,
Andrew

James,
Well I'm hardly a guru, but may be able to help you.
The "server" (your office PC) should have an option when you right mouse
click the system tray icon that allows you to permit the viewer to control.
Sorry I can't tell you exactly. I only have the viewer on this machine and
don't have ac
Hi, I recently installed Xvnc on an SGI with IRIX 6.5. it was unable
to find the "fixed" font it needs at startup. So I added the font
directory with 'fixed' to the fp flag in the vncserver script and
this made it a little happier. However, it then complained that it
couldn't find the 'curs

Has anyone successfully setup VNC on OpenLinux 3.3.1 in inetd mode using
the default kdm? If you used xdm, how do you configure OpenLinux to use
it instead of kdm?
I am up to the grey screen and nmap and netstat show kdm listening on
port 177 (xdmcp), but I still get the grey screen. I am bangi

This may be entirely too simple of an explanation, but, be sure that: a)
your office PC is not in hibernation or screen saver mode, b) you selected
the option on the office PC to enable remote control from the viewer, not
just "listening" mode.
If the name of your computer is showing, you obviousl
I'm certain I saw this mentioned before, but I can't seem to find the reference to it.
Win2k server with terminal services. Is there a way to prevent the "another instance
of VNC is running" when installed as a service? Every time I log into the system (via
terminal services or at the console
Thank you, I will do just that.

Greetings,
Does anyone know if the buffer overflows mentioned in:

and

are fixed in the new 3.3.3r9?

As of yet, no. No special frills.
Rudi deVos has a highly experimental version of WinVNC which runs on Windows
2000 and will allow associating an application with a VNC connection; at his
development speed, it may be workable in a few weeks at most (if he gets enough
feedback from people to enab
Yes; you just need to install it as a service - just select "Install WinVNC
service" from the WinVNC Administrative Tools section of the Start menu.
You may want to look through this page:

and pay close attention to the "Running WinVNC as a service"
