I have a bunch of workstations using TightVNC 1.2.2. My helpdesk uses a
web browser to connect to the workstations. Is there a way to pass
options java client on encoding, mouse cursor settings, etc. in an html
link?
I know that if I use the vncviewer client, I can make all of these
selections..
Another fix is to connect to the machines you want to work on one at a time,
set the display size and click Save connection info as... It will create a
.VNC file that can be executed to bring up a VNC session by typing
VNCViewer.EXE /config file.VNC It will pop up the client once logged in and

Use a program called VNCCommander found at:
http://www.amsoftwaredesign.com/ It allows you to resize the desktop to
any percentage you want. This is the best add-on for VNC that I have used.
I hope this helps.

Hello all
New user here, I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer for in
the FAQ's or mailing list. I am completely new to this type of thing so
please bear with me.
I already have VNC on my SuSE 7.3 box, and have accessed it via IE5 from my
win2k pro workstation and vice-versa, so

The debugmode and level almost work. The log file
(c:\winnt\system32\WinVNC.log not in the WinVNC directory like the docs say)
is refreshed whenever the service is restarted (e.g. Reboot). We need more
longevity in the event we need to see who has been accessing/trying to get
onto a system. Any

I think TightVNC is the best all-around version of VNC. I use it quite
a bit and haven't had any significant problems.

I am considering deploying this to our clients in place of VNCr9.
Does anyone have an opinion on this version of Tight VNC?
Any raves or rants?

If you are running VNC as a service, then your /etc/inetd.conf file
probably uses a command-line option like "-broadcast". Change it to
"-query localhost". That way VNC will look on the local machine for and
XDMCP server instead of one that is broadcasting on the network.

I just installed a beta server (Linux) at a remote site about 40 miles
away that currenlty has a Sparc 5 and a Windows Terminal server (both of
which I hope to pull out by May). VNC is running on this box and when I
try to VNC in from my work site, the Sparc is responding (the Sparc does

You need to run VNC as a service. I suggest searching the VNC archives, as
this has been discussed before. Otherwise try the following (this works on
Solaris; don't know about other unix flavours.) :
Add this to your /etc/inetd.conf
# VNC
vnc-640x480x8 stream tcp nowait root/vncpath/

I am having a problem getting VNC working with MS Proxy server 2.0. I have

I'm having a bit of a problem. VNC users always log

Will changing the owner of the VNC executable do it?
Also, how can you set up VNC so that only a certain IP
range is allowed?
Also, is it possilble to set up VNC so that each new

As a side note, the 'one app' patch would be a great thing to add
as a standard ( across all platforms )...
That plus Tight Encoding for those of us that use 1 or two
apps at at time across the wire, dont need to run a whole desktop..
Would be cool to add support for TS/Citrix protocol too..
Hi,
I am getting certain binding errors when using vncviewer from my PC to connect

These are the keys which are present only on SunKeyboard.. osfCut, osfUndo,
osfPaste ...
Is there a workaround for this..
I am also unable to use right click for poping up menus.
