If you are running VNC as a service, then your /etc/inetd.conf file
probably uses a command-line option like "-broadcast".  Change it to
"-query localhost".  That way VNC will look on the local machine for and
XDMCP server instead of one that is broadcasting on the network.

If you aren't running it as an inetd service, then I can't help you.

I just installed a beta server (Linux) at a remote site about 40 miles
away that currenlty has a Sparc 5 and a Windows Terminal server (both
of
which I hope to pull out by May).  VNC is running on this box and when
I
try to VNC in from my work site, the Sparc is responding (the Sparc
does
not have VNC installed on it).  What on earth is going on?  I must
have
something to do with X broadcast but I put in the IP address I wanted
to
connect with...
