I have the same issue here. Seems to be a Vista issue??
I have been able to connect between two XP machines with no problems. With
Vista machine, I can only connect from the Vista desktop, but not from XP to
Vista. I get the "No password configured for VNC auth" when I try to connect
from XP
I was able to correct this in Vista by right clicking on the VNC server icon
and select "Run as Administrator". Follow the prompts to enter your logon
password and it now works for me to connect from XP to Vista.
FYI,
Ron

Hi list,
I use the free edition on my home network and am familiar with
installing and using in Windows.
I have a Ubuntu machine that I would like to use vnc with in the same
way. Is this possible?
I am very new to Linux / Ubuntu.
I tried to install without success, and wondering at this point
will not do,
or am I not doing the correct process to install and make that happen.
Thanks, Ron

Try reversing the polarity of the electrical plug on one or both computers.
(turn the plug over) 8^)

I have a D-Link Wired router, so may be different in that respect, but I
went to the router software and logged in as admin.
Click on the Advanced tab.
The Virtual Server button on the left is open, or active.
Here, I configured a new server entry as follows:
Name: Any name you want
IP address:
