I want to controll another PC on my *local* network.

PC to be controlled 192.168.1.103.
Installed vnc-4_1_2-x86_win32.exe(free) with defaults.
Set password, 8 characters.
Access control-> removed +, added 192.168.1.100, which is the

Just wondering if anyone can help me here, I am trying to find out if there is
a way to connect to a PC with no public IP using some kind of server in the

both computers myself. I haven't used any of the virtual display drivers
and suchlike myself, and I cannot comment on how well they run, or any
of the details thereof.
Instead of using VNC couldn't you just use KVM switches? Eve
which is why the viewer appears
frozen.

You need to specify the destination for the client, you specify the
port, proxy info, but you are specifying only 80 as the server, try
changing it to
htc -F 5900 -P proxyserver.mydomain:80 -A user:password serverip:80

if you had files you wanted available to your customer on anonymous ftp, you
could just use your customers browser with vnc to go get the files from your
ftp site.

I need to use the Java viewer for Real VNC and would like to run it in full
colour. There is a full colour option in the Options display, but it is
greyed out so I can only get 256 colours. What do I need to do enable full
colour in the viewer or is this not available?

Yes, it's VNC Viewer 4.0. It does not remember window location on close for
some reason; it always defaults to the upper left of the screen. I did not
have this issue with VNC Viewer 3.x... Any ideas?

I've created an unattended install that does everything other than setting the
license key. I've tried setting the license key on a machine and then
importing the VNC registry keys to the box that is getting the package.
However, it seems the registry key generated is unique in every install.

When I'm at work, I am unable to get a connection to my realvnc server on a
home XP SP2 (Pro) box. Is this blocked by a corporate firewall? Is there a
way around this? It would be very helpful to be able to troubleshoot
remotely for the family.

On XP Systems, VNC v3.3.3 r9 does not show in ADD/REMOVE such that it
can be removed.
On one occasion, did not see it as shown by "Name" listing, but did see
it listed under "Date Last Used".
Otherwise, cannot "See" VNC to remove it cleanly. . . . . ??

When I then try to login to any account on the XP box from the other machine,

again. Currently all I'm seeing is a grey window with two checkboxes "Send

I just tried a quick test and it doesnt seem like the new viewer and the old

Enabling more intensive updating solved the problem - I also installed
Rudi De Vos's VNC Accelerated video driver, because it sounded like a useful
utility.

Thanks, that seems to work, but now when I run VNC I get the black screen
with cursor. It moves for a second then stops and seems to hang. What could
that be!
