The VNC package bundled with RedHat distributions is a custom build of VNC
Free Edition with some RedHat-specific patches applied. You could try
replacing it with the standard VNC Free Edition binaries - if both builds
are affected then it may be an X server issue, or possibly a bug com

We started testing RHEL 5.0 last month and found that RedHat had changed
the paths to:
SecurityPath
(was /etc/X11/xserver/SecurityPolicy, RHEL5=
/usr/lib/xserver/SecurityPolicy (32 bit),
/usr/lib64/xserver/SecurityPolicy (64 bit))

I am using the free edition and i just installed the viewer. I have a host
file that works fine with my other programs (ftp, etc) but i cannot get it
to work with VNC. my partner has vnc on his pc and the host file works
fine. I have tried with the just downloading the viewer, and then

I am using Vnc viewer and it does not seem to be reading the host file. ..all
my other programs access it just fine, when i try to use vnc viewer and type
in a hostname instead of an ip i get the error: getaddrinfo: No such host
