I can connect Laptop to PC (VNC in Service Mode) via IE6 but I can't the other way
Like you the display option works with both Service and User modes both ways.

If that is still there you should be able to do a local connect.
I don't know what would block loop back connections(in version4) other
than some sort of software firewall.

I can only think that there's a problem with my Desktop setting as the desktop version
of the operating system is different from that of the Laptop (Professional verses Home
respectively) and I may have some form of
good product and is worth the effort.
But what about the NEW problem - well this is related to getting the browser to work
but I'll cover that in another email because its the next problem that I need some
help with. To pre-empt some emails I can get Browser access to work Laptop to
nfiguring the server for
port 5900 (I've also tried 5901) and I'm referencing the corresponding port when
running the client.
Any thoughts anyone 'cos I don't know where else to turn at this moment???
