Good morning Brian,
As one who learned WordPerfect in 1986, also via DOS and then Windows*, and
used it on my first four PCs, I have no objection whatsoever to that Zamzar
feature.
In fact, I still have a copy of WP v8 lying around here somewhere...it came
with the PC I bought in 1998**. I had a
Believe it or not, as of right now Zamzar still enables people to convert
files *to* WordPerfect (wpd).

Hello Mr. Cooper,
You'll need to contact Microsoft. This is a list for users of OpenOffice, a
free alternative to Microsoft Office.
Good luck!

Jim,
Having participated in online discussions since the Soviet Union still
existed, I've run into my fair share of people who miss the instructions.
And yes, that includes people who post "Please unsubscribe me" to the whole
list. I get how frustrating that can be.
Still, it's no reason to make
Hello Marco,
Thank you very much for your insight, especially as I had not seen the
connection with requiring Internet Explorer 8+.
As for OpenOffice, when I began the online application process and the got

Hello,
I'm thinking of applying for an online tutoring position at Tutor.com.
However, they require that tutors (and applicants, for the mock tutoring
session) have Microsoft Word (2007 or later) itself -- they specifically
say that OpenOffice is not acceptable. I'd rather not spend $110 just to

Hello,
Unless there's something in your request I'm missing, you don't need
anyone's permission to use OpenOffice and/or Firefox.
Good luck, and we're glad OpenOffice has worked out so well for you!

Actually, getting digest form means you get *all* the nonsense in the same
message, and you have to dig through the whole thing to find *anything* you
want to read.
Then, if you want to reply to it, you have to do heavy-duty editing (or
subject everyone else to receiving the whole digest, too).

Hello,
My wife is willing to consider converting to LibreOffice 4
permanently. Here's her major issue, in two parts:
(1) She does not know how to start or use Notes in LibreOffice Impress
(the presentation part).
(2) When she starts (and saves) Notes in PowerPoint, and then works on

Hello,
The first category listed here, Favorite Office Suite for Windows, has
both OpenOffice and LibreOffice as separate competitors. I've voted
for LibreOffice since (1) that's what it is now and (2) it currently
has a majority of votes, so we should not split the vote and let one

Because for maybe a decade and a half now, Microsoft Word has been the
