F23 KDE instant message client problems

After the F22 update I found that the instant messages (IM) client build into KDE stopped being able to log me in to google hangouts. I use the settings online accounts to authorize the IM. But it still reported auth problems. Then I deleted everything in .config and .local to do with telepathy
