For the shortcut savv, there could at least be an option to reply to notifications without there being any clickable elements in the notification itself, for example i receive a 'hi' message in empathy, while that notification is up i can hold ALT and reply, without changing window focus or really

I really think that isn't a clean way to go . The current system works very well and in terms of getting to the application - I've had the idea for some time now to have notification history , and that can integrate redirecting to the app . For example an entry in the system menu (top right corner)
