This is a bug in Unity, because it does not happen in Gnome Shell.
How to play:
Go to Unity Dash, show all applications, move icons up and down with the
scroll bar, suspend and resume, perform the same operation and notice
that is very slow.
Confirmed that the bug is in Unity
Alt-F2 --> unity --reset fixes the problem.
This bug should be passed to Unity instead of xorg?

I tried your ppa compiz and unity and unity works much better even after
the a suspend resume, everything runs smoother, but not as well as in
11.04.
I made some test with glxspheres64 and in Unity i get half the FPS
than Gnome Shell or Unity 2D.

Resolved insofar as I simply downgraded and pretended Karmic never
happened.
Besides, there wasn't a bug here, this was a packaging misnomer.
Not sure if this is resolved for X11 in Lucid. The "solution" in Lucid seems to
be to have the Xorg kbd_drv.so package REMOVED COMPLETELY.

I can confirm the bug on my Lucid installation on my Sony Vaio Z21MN
with the Intel graphics card (more details below). The workaround
(i915.powersave=0) seems to work (after 2 days of use). I hope in a real

I have found that the driver for my graphics card (GeForce 210) has been
updated from nvidia-304 to nvidia-340, both drivers being listed in Ubuntu
16.10 as available for my card.
Anyone else with the problem as reported can check this

This is a newly installed Kubuntu 12.10 on a new HP g6-2245sg notebook,
dual boot with Windows 8 which was pre-installed.
I noticed that every now and then (mainly when the notebook has been
unattended for a minute or so) the mouse cursor movement is slow, screen
update rates
This was intentionally removed from DKMS (bug 960770).

Running "sudo libinput measure touch-size" gives, for a single finger,
max sizes between 580 (finger tip) and 1900 (when I deliberately put the
first phalanx down flat).
"Normal" finger placement size is approx 850 to 950.
