Just a quick note to say that the bug is still present with an up-to-

Confirmed: still happens on Karmic Beta. And it's even worse. Worse than
Alpha 1! It's freezing before I even get the chance to click on
anything. I had the chance only once, and when I opened a window,

This is a patch to the KDE logout effect which disables the buggy
section in the Intel driver. If and only if the driver does not get
fixed, please apply the patch for Karmic. That patch would change the
behaviour for all users allthough for those who are not affected by this
bug.

That worked! Turns out I'm just a dumbass. Having just rebooted, my
memory usage is 465mb, with Xorg using 105mb. I'll let you know the
status after it's been running for a while/overnight.
Thanks for the help,

[M76] [ubuntu 9.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects
I tried rolling back libgl1-mesa-dri and libgl1-mesa-glx, and it had no affect.
It looks like compiz is getting no hardware
acceleration whatsoever, and is unable to render windows larger than about half
the screen (the background is also black).
Did you want me to try some other packages? Uni
By the way, without compiz, glxgears does appear to have some
