I just tried the Karmic beta and I'm still seeing this bug with my
Radeon HD3300, 1900x1200 monitor connected by DVI. Every few minutes my
screen blanks for ~1second. Should it be fixed in the beta? If so, I
don't think the fix has worked.

Getting a blank sceen after login (login ui is fine). I can see and move cursor

After today's updates, I can switch on medium level desktop effects.
With effects on, menus and application windows randomly leave graphic
artefacts on the screen (lines, boxes, text e.t.c), however
notifications and the monitor window are now visible. The artefacts make
keeping desktop effects on
I've tried to install 2.6.31-10.32 and something went wrong and I
couldn't even boot with 2GB RAM. After the last kernel update for my
9.04 distro I've tried to put the other 2GB's back but unfortunately the

and the bug has not recurred after a few reboots worth of testing.

I'm afraid that without the info I asked about in my previous comment,
there is nothing we can do on our end to better handle this use case.
We'd need to know specifics about your monitor and video card, for
example, in order to generate quirks or conditional logic so the "fix"
applies only to this

I don't have this problem any more with an updated Karmic (which I guess

I just updated my karmic install with the past two days updates. Xorg
now uses 100% CPU after boot. If I log out and log back in, cpu usage
goes back to normal. The only relevant thing from dpkg.log looks like
mesa.

I have installed VIA proprietary graphics driver.
I followed the instructions from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OpenChrome.
After rebooting, the X could not be started, I got a warning and the full
screen consoles were unreadable exactly in the same way, what I get after
