Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
After a fresh install of Karmic beta yesterday, Xorg was taking up 100% of my first CPU, compiz was not starting, the system was unresponsive and all GUI windows were taking several seconds to draw on the screen. After an update to libgl1-mesa-dri gnome-system-monitor reports that Xorg is only taking up about 15% of the CPU. However, the other symptoms remain the same, and the system is just as slow before the update. I could be wrong, but this excerpt from dmesg looks like it may be pertinent: [ 3.027889] i915 0000:00:02.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16 [ 3.027895] i915 0000:00:02.0: setting latency timer to 64 [ 3.027922] [drm:drm_fill_in_dev] *ERROR* Cannot initialize the agpgart module. I've seen several other bugs that look like their symptoms are similar, but it seems difficult to me to determine if an X related bug is the same as someone else's, or just has similar symptoms.
