Ubuntu was born from debian for the two purposes of having a predictable
release cycle and high usability.
This bug also affects Jaunty (9.04). Just did a clean install on my
Averatec C3500 Tablet and the colors very very messed up. Much like the
pictures @brettgraham had. Running xfix from the repair boot option did
not fix the issue. Adding "sisfb" to /etc/modules did fix the issue
however.

know that at least with usb mice there is a mouse polling interval. Most so
called gaming mice come with a high polling frequency with 500Hz, while laptop
mice usually have a much lo
I can confirm this bug in Ubuntu 9.04, the problem seems to occur only
when Ubuntu is installed from Windows XP. When booting using the Live CD
this problem does not occur.
The work around by Sebastian Urban, solves the problem with no obvious
side effects:

Ok, tested version 750 with and without patch. Both give the same results, both
positive.
I see the mouse cursor and the resolution is correct.

I think I have a related issue in Jaunty.
Sometimes after resuming from suspend my usb mouse stopped working - it worked
for a few seconds and then stopped. Same after replugging it or plugging to
different port. I don't know which helped - rebooting to Mac OS X for a moment,
or booting with usb

- It seems that watching a video from tv-out in Windows (dual boot)
screwed up my monitor ( acer al2216w ). I started getting the "bad edid
checksum" errors from X.
- The problem appeared simultaneously on Ubuntu 9.04 and Debian "Lenny"
Looks like the problem has been fixed in xserver-xorg-video-intel
2:2.7.99.1+git20090602.ec2fde7c-0ubuntu2.

is 104_use_exa.patch. I hope that upstream will help us out of this with
a proper patch that selects EXA by default but drops back to XAA in low-

Hm, I just updated to xserver-xorg-video-radeon 1:6.12.2-2ubuntu1 and
linux 2.6.30-8-generic... still buggy. lol.

I tried the new driver also on another notebook with an older intel
graphic chip and the results are exactly the same. I'm attaching logs
and output of `lspci -vvnn' from this machine.
It seems that this auto detection in the driver doesn't work reliably,
so maybe it would be good idea to consider

i've been trying the evtouch package without the patch and it is now

Przemysław, are you sure that is the same bug? This bug is about mouse
"freezes" of about 0,5 seconds after pressing keys of the keyboard. The
mouse works fine otherwise.

I have similar problems on i915. In my case I don't even have to have
virtual resolution enabled to encounter the problems. The only dual-head
that works is mirroring screens. After I get black screen with movable
mouse pointer the server doesn't react neither to ctrl+alt+F nor
ctrl+alt+backspace (
Alberto, I've already done the merge in my PPA (which lots of people
use), and nobody has complained.

After I logged in I tried to make them independent which resulted in
