This is still affecting even after installing Ubuntu 32 or 64 from
scratch. Even if I apply the swat-x PPA for nvidia it still affects the
PC. It affects Nvidia 9500, 220, 9800, 440 and the new 560 TI I bought.
I have to go to the nvidia-settings panel and change the refresh rate
from Auto to 60hz

Seeing same behavior on two machines.
One is a complete new reinstall to 12.04 (was 11.04 before) using PS/2 mouse
(through a PS/2 KVM)
The other system is an upgrade from 11.10, and is using a USB mouse.
Mouse simply freezes for 1-3 seconds once in a while (every 10-15 minutes on
first machine,
I think i hit the same problem after upgrading a HP laptop with a 8086:0046
graphic card.
Things used to work on 10.04. Now, the system boots on a black screen.
booting with nomodeset=1 as a kernel parameter lets me have a graphic login,
but the resolution is awfull.

Sorry about the wait. I've finally re-upgraded to 12.04, reproduced the
bug and ran the command to report the issue. On the first run my monitor

ugh... compiz still crashes on startup even with 295.49, time to install
GNOME I guess. I like unity 3d but it's annoying having even webpages
with flash freeze randomly while using the "default" driver, and unity
3d is not usable with nvidia driver.

Well there was a corruption occuring in synaptics that could trigger
every time the touchpad was disabled, for example with syndaemon. It was
fixed in a newer version, and might be what you're experiencing here.

This affects me too. Complete lock up on 64bit since upgrading to 12.04.
Can't even SSH in remotely. Power cycle only option. Dell Precision
M4500, i7 quad core, Nvidia graphics. Have upgraded several other
(32bit) machines without any problems.

I have the same issues (get the same error code) but only when trying to
launch SuperTuxKart 3D game.
I can play video and have been able to sucesfully play some other old
Windows 3d games via Wine without a problem.
The same happens also if I use Lubutnu so it's not a unity/compiz
related issue.

Things are better with ubuntu-12.04LTS. It seems that the pen halted
only one time after the upgrade to 12.04.
