Graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 3670 system is Dell Studio XPS 16. Anyway, it worked initially until after the kernel received it's second update automatically. OS would not start with monitor (HP 2310m) plugged into HDMI. If plugging in after the fact, OS would crash (could make it as far as logging in.) Tried open source and fglrx - no success. Reinstalled 12.04. Still same problem. Now reverting back to 11.10. - --- + --- .tmp.unity.support.test.0: - + ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu7 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, decor, resize, imgpng, snap, gnomecompat, compiztoolbox, grid, mousepoll, vpswitch, place, regex, session, animation, unitymtgrabhandles, wall, expo, move, workarounds, fade, scale, ezoom, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz DistUpgraded: 2012-05-19 01:40:57,077 DEBUG enabling apt cron job - DistroCodename: precise - DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 + DistroCodename: preciseDistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, whatever it takes to get this fixed in Ubuntu GraphicsCard: - Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV635 [Mobility Radeon HD 3670] [1002:9593] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) - Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:0272] - InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release amd64 (20111012) + Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV635 [Mobility Radeon HD 3670] [1002:9593] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) + Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:0272]InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release amd64 (20111012) MachineType: Dell Inc.
