have gone away.
At one point, I got tired of dealing with a buggy system, and decided to

I've had a couple more freezes since I left the last message, and they

After upgrading form Karmic To Lucid I had no mouse or keyboard in X,
outside X everything was fine. X reported:
"eviocgname failed inappropriate ioctl for device"
unfortunately this is from my google search, and not from the Xl
If Lucid with xorg-edgers turns out to be running fine (xorg-edgers
usually has other bugs, but if it is not freezing) and Lucid without
it does freeze, we may have quite a lot of troubleshooting to do in
order to find the fix. If standard Lucid does not freeze, we can all
rejoice :-)
