I've built a 2.6.32-rc6 kernel with a patched rs400.c file (I patched
also "by hand") and it's also not working. For me, it's worst than the
2.6.31-14-generic kernel, because after the boot I've got only a
800x600 screen resulotion. After the suspend my notebook can't wake
up, just hangs on with a

I've added a patch to the karmic xorg-server package that should help.
Without having a good reproduction technique, I can't say definitively

It would appear that the reassignment of this bug to nVidia would be
wrong.
I just removed the proprietary nVidia driver and rebooted. As far as I
can see exactly the same problem continues to occur. The same procedure
for recovery works except that upon choosing normal desktop effects

just adding AGPSize 64 to my existing xorg.conf (taken from
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RadeonDriver) works for me, without
kms and without downgrading libgl1-mesa-dri.
I'm now using Extra Visual Effects at the same speed it was on jaunty

refresh frequencies that are guaranteed to work and do no harm on all

Nevertheless, this "fix" does not seem to work for me. Now I am on patched and
self-built kernel
