I think the bug is still present in 13.04 as well as in 13.10 beta.
I manged to get things working, and found the source of the problem: the
search.fs_uuid set in EFI/ubuntu/grub.cfg on the UEFI system partition is not
correct, as it does not relate to the root fs.
So I had to boot from a rescue
I still see this bug in 14.10, with Remmina 1.0.0-6ubuntu1.
My problem is when using Qlikview, where the change in cursor shape is about
the only chance to move and resize elements, so using it with Remmina is almost
impossible...

I can see this same behaviour now in Raring with Unity

Sometimes, the Launcher fails to reveal when pushing left with the
mouse. Super key works fine...

Yes, SSD too here. but I guess this ain't extraordinary nowdays... Also
this most probably has an impact, as it seems to be a race condiction...

I was quite sure I activated the PPA, and it failed. But looking at the
version in Xorg.0.log, it seems I didn't get the right version. I did
not pin any specific version... Looking at what is installed, I only
have xerver-common coming from the PPA...

I have compiled xorg-server from PPA localy. So now I have tried it, and "kind
of" works. Not really satisfactory, although.
What happens is that lightdm end up starting, BUT in the meantime, I have a TTY
console showing off (ie no plymouth), and it takes a looong time.

One question: this workaround results in a flip-flap between console mode /
graphical mode during boot, and a 5 to 20 seconds delay in the boot. This is
better than lightdm failing to start, but not the best we can aim...
So my question is: should I open another bug report, maybe me
Another use case...
1) open thunderbird
2) create a new message
3) switch to firefox
4) click on thunderbird icon in the launcher to come back to thunderbird
