i too am experiencing the same problems. One thing to add is that i
tried running Mandriva's latest distribution as well, and experienced

Yes the Tribe 5 CD and the most recent kernel (2.6.22-11-generic) as of
yesterday fails. I've cut down the extra option needed to 'nolapic'.
Without this option present the system hits the "Starting up..." prompt
and then either soft resets (or once simply stopped loading). Using a
non quiet boot,

I still have the problem that I cannot select a default one from gnome-
keyboard-properties (the radio button is not selectable, see
screenshot). The only way to change my layout now is by clicking on the
keyboard switch applet ("USA" changes to "Nor" then). I did a "Reset to
defaults" from there,

top and that seemed to work. It would be more logical though if one
could just select it as the default, even in a global layout but that's

of radio stations in rhythmbox, which I'm actually using now.

I'm experiencing this too. I have a Hardy beta system, upgraded from
Gutsy. The default keyboard layout is USA, and I configured Romanian as
a secondary layout.
