Yes the Tribe 5 CD and the most recent kernel (2.6.22-11-generic) as of yesterday fails. I've cut down the extra option needed to 'nolapic'. Without this option present the system hits the "Starting up..." prompt and then either soft resets (or once simply stopped loading). Using a non quiet boot, it hits these lines and then stops:
