The HP Elitebook 840 G1 is a regular laptop, so the accelerometer is not
frequently used. Even when it's functioning properly like in 18.04, it
can accidentally rotate 90 degrees when you tilt it slightly. You would
never use this unit tilted 90 degrees or upside down, so if it's

Absolutely, you mentioned bug 1726160 in an earlier comment and it
contained a functioning workaround - removing iio-sensor-proxy. The
problem seems to originate from systemd mount matrix issues on HP
laptops using the lis3lv02d accelerometer, however determining the

The bug is gone on 20.04 daily (2020-02-23). Screen orientation is now

[HP Elitebook 840 G1] Screen is up
Public bug reported:
On the 19.04 daily image (2019-03-24), the screen on my laptop is
completely upside down, from the moment the GUI loads. This does not
happen on 18.04 and 18.10.
It appears to be an accelerometer issue since holding the laptop upside
down flips the image to its correct orient
I have now reverted all the way back to the kernel I use on 18.04 (4.15)
and the issue still happens.
The accelerometer position in both 18.04 and 19.04
(/sys/devices/platform/lis3lv02d/) read the same.
Attached is a video of the moment when the flip occurs, just before the
desktop loads. Sorry f
Public bug reported:
When Ubiquity is running, the top right power and lock buttons aren't
working. I get the fact that it might not be a good idea to shut down
your computer while it's actually partitioning and copying, but there
are many steps during the installation before the destructive chang
Public bug reported:
In the "Installation type" dialog, Ubiquity assumes the default
installation drive (in my case sda) and bases all the information and
options on that drive. If you choose "Erase disk and install Ubuntu", a
warning pops up saying that sda will be erased.
Only in the next step
It should be noted that this only happens when you choose "Erase disk
and install Ubuntu", the options make more sense in "Install Ubuntu
alongside ".
Example use cases of the "Erase disk" option is when creating an
external bootable thumbdrive or when installing Ubuntu on another
internal drive w
I followed the suggestions in the related bug report. Removing iio-
sensor-proxy indeed solved the problem completely, with no need for
rotation lock. Should I move the bug report somewhere else at this
stage?
