The HP Elitebook 840 G1 is a regular laptop, so the accelerometer is not frequently used. Even when it's functioning properly like in 18.04, it can accidentally rotate 90 degrees when you tilt it slightly. You would never use this unit tilted 90 degrees or upside down, so if it's possible to entirely disable screen rotation on this model it would be preferable.
