Kejin, if you installed 9.04 using wubi and then upgraded to 9.10, then
this is a known bug that has just been found. An update should be
coming through the package system soon.

you have noted are not defined in an ISO standard. See:

Some other de facto standards define some of them, like Windows-1252:

Sounds more like something went wrong with the installation process.
Did you verify the checksum of the .iso file before doing the
installation? If it does verify, is this behavior repeatable (if
possible)?

I am not certain how this is a bug (particularly for sun-java6). It
identifies the file ParseSeparatedData.java file correctly as java
source code. Without the java headers, java programs look a lot like
C++ programs, so I am not surprised that the file program thought that
Test.java was a C++ so
