I've upgraded my Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) to 9.10 (Karmic). After upgrade completed
the system required a reboot which I did. Upon boot I was presented with a
white Ubuntu logo and the received the following message:
"Mount of root filesystem failed"
I'm allowed to enter a pass
Thx Kuraiken, tried it from command propmt in the maintenance shell and result
was this:
/dev/sda1: clean, / files, /x blocks
rebooted the system but still getting the message: Mount of root
filesystem failed

Not dual-booting.
/dev/sda is the disk Linux is loaded on. Partitions look like this:
PartitionFilesystemMount point size
/dev/sda1 ext3/media/disk 110GB
/dev/sda2 extended1.4GB
/dev/sda5 Linux-swap
Some more info:
"kernel 2.6.31-14-generic" and "kernel 2.6.31-14-generic (recovery
mode)" both result in the "Mount of root filesystem failed" error.
"kernel 2.6.28-16-generic" boot fine, well sort-of, it waited some time
for the swap drive to mount and at some time an application error
occurred,

Okular is a no-go. Only open 1 page with wrong dimentions
evince shows in Synaptic Package Manager as installed but I don't see it
or have an option to use it to open graphic files

Apologies, Document viewer does show 12 pages of the 12 page file above
and the orientation is correct. It is image viewer that is showing it
wrongly.
One other thing, If my folder is in Icon view, the tif file show wrongly
but if I right-click on it and use document viewer it opens fine.

Morning all!
Still no luck and almost no sleep.
kernel 2.6.28-16-generic is the only kernel that manage to mount the root
filesystem, all other kernels end with the "Mount of root filesystem failed"
message.
My problems are far from over as it seems that in this kernel there is serious
display

So the reason is caused by ubuntu system ? not the source(bootchart.tgz)

Update:
I poked around in a set of vanilla 2.6.33-rc4 kernel sources and found
that the ONLY NextWindow device listed in drivers/hid/usb-hids.c is
1926:0003. I swapped that to 1926:0006, recompiled, then ran:
sudo sh -c "echo 1926 0006 > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usbtouchscreen/new_id"
And I get an e
Just ran evtest.
Spams random values so fast it is hard to tell it is even responding to
touch... but... it stops after a while when i stop touching it, and
starts up again the instant i touch it ;-)
The values are all over the place from 1 to 1071 for x and 200 to 600
for y though.
