i get the same behavior using vlc and openoffice when using the browse for a
file function. i could only reproduce the error in gdb using vlc and not using
openoffice; the full backtrace is attatched.
using the compiled version vlc from source (VLC media player 0.8.6i Janus) i
cannot reproduce t

i tried to create a dbg package, but it gave me the following error.
Patch 000_ltmain.diff does not remove cleanly (refresh it or enforce with -f)

i've tried everything i can think of to fix these intermittent freezes and
black screens, so i think i am also affected by this bug. sometimes my display
and keyboard will freeze, but my mouse cursor can move (though i cannot use the
buttons on it), sometimes it will freeze and go to the backgro
w4ett i've tried using both PCI and AGP options previously, among many other
tweaks. my card is not a PCI card, it's AGP.
i just tried it again and it resulted in a black screen and no inputs just
before the gdm login screen, as per usual.
i think it's honestly a bug with the open source ati/ra
i don't have access to another machine on this network at this moment in time.
i'll try to get my friends laptop for testing purposes and i'll get back to you

Yes it does still exist. If you play a game that has constant sound playing it
occurs, but not on those with just effects on actions.
"Stack Em" is a free game that you can test where this occurs.

Well, it came down to a misconfiguration or lets say a lack there of. I
just had the settings that are used by asoundconf and when I added the
following lines in my .asoundrc it works perfectly fine.

I am running Feisty with xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.6.3 installed with a AGP
Radeon 7000 series.
If I supply the ati/radeon driver in my xorg.conf I get a black/blank screen
before the GDM. If I do happen to make it into the deskt
