i get the same behavior using vlc and openoffice when using the browse for a file function. i could only reproduce the error in gdb using vlc and not using openoffice; the full backtrace is attatched. using the compiled version vlc from source (VLC media player 0.8.6i Janus) i cannot reproduce this error/crash.
