AFAIK, blinking led's indicate a kernel panic. If this happens at random, with all recent ubuntu releases and even in a live CD environment, you most likely have a hardware problem. Having a notification is not a solution. Its a useful idea for people who actually want to use mousekey, but I bet the large majority doesn't and just wants to see this bug fixed. Its interesting almost everyone reporting this bug uses VNC or similar, so I concur the bug seems to be related to it.

I have the same problem using Karmic beta (up to date). There is no crash report in /var/crash that relates to this crash, but I opened nautilis from a terminal and then I get to see this error when I try to drag and drop from file roller: The program 'nautilus' received an X Window System error.
