The solution posted didn't work for me...
The program doesn't crash, and it seems to be all right except the part of no

As a sidenote, "pmidi -p " doesn't make any sound
at all but wastes 100% CPU time, just like rosegarden while playing (or

Ok, my problem was solved by ignoring timidity, fluisynth and jack
(which isn't needed for the MIDI playing).
I just needed to install the asfxload utility and find a Sound Font so I
could initialize my sound card midi sound table (without it it would not
play a midi sound).
After that there is n
Same problem as everyone else, but noticed a strange thing on doing a
"ps -x".
As shown in the attachement, esd and some evolution programs are running
too.
I'm using a fully updated Kubuntu Dapper and never started evolution on
my own will, so I fell that very strange...

Just to add that I never had noticed this before, except today, after
installing eclipse (from the eclipse site and installed in my home

After closing it (and the CPU settled down because I don't have enough
memory nor CPU for eclipse) that's when

I fixed this by adding xconsole to the "/lib/udev/devices" directory and
adjusting the permissions.
But I still have to restart rsyslog every day for xconsole to continue working,
because after the daily cron activities it ceases to work.

I can also confirm that the workaround works for me.
On the other hand it seems the update is slower than before, so while
it's a nice workaround the real fix should be to make apt to fallback to
