The solution posted didn't work for me... The program doesn't crash, and it seems to be all right except the part of no sound :(
As a sidenote, "pmidi -p <some-port> <file.midi>" doesn't make any sound at all but wastes 100% CPU time, just like rosegarden while playing (or making us believe it is doing it). I can only play midi files using "timidity <file.midi>".
