hibernate, but resume from suspend still caused a crash.
Anyway Andy's fix worked for the laptop I was setting up, and it agrees

Also, I´ve noticed that if I put the CD in the same drive as it was last
played in and restart Rhythmbox it will work OK, but if it´s put into
the first drive again it will yet again fail.

Have just updated my installation on both my laptop and the KVM.
The graphics are fine on the laptop (IBM x41 with Intel graphics), but
still the same corruption on the VM.
Does that mean this could be an X issue?

I ran apport-bug ubiquity from the installer disc, to get the right
version info etc, because I don't know if there are side-effects of
installing ubiquity in an installed environment.
Do you want me to collect some info from the installed environment?

No, selecting /dev/sda12 from the drop-down still doesn't update the
text box.
I've used the latest daily live CD, however I updated the installer to
v.2.1.24 to get the fix for #524993. I hope that hasn't skewed the
result.
