I am aware of the whole problem with the patents and it is a known issue
for years that has included also mplayer etc etc.
But, as I see it, the question is this:
if these libraries cannot be freely distributed they should not be in main.
If they can be there is no problem to include them as depen
Out of curiosity, could you tell me which was the package missing from
the two in order to know which bug to specify it as a duplicate of?
Glad I helped :-)

Is there someone who would like to take up official sponsorship of this package
in debian?
I am asking here because the last contributors of the package in ubuntu are
already subsribed and probably they would be the firsts to be interested.
If someone wants and has the time and the will to take
Felix Geyer is working on this, sorry for the extra messages.

In order to change the upstream version of a program someone has to be the
author of it and make an official release.
Since, I just a user and the (hopefully the future) official maintainer I
cannot do that.
Since, the project seems dead, I could try to adopt it upstream but I am
not sure about
What is the status of this bug?
If nobody else is working on a package, I would like to start myself.

Is there anyone who can test it before I try to find some sponsor to

Hello to all,
Sorry for the long inactivity time, but extra work has come up.
You can find a new version of the hotkeys plugin in my ppa (just for karmic for
now, if someone is interested for lucid, let me know).
Instructions on how to add my repository can be found here:

I think I found a solution:
After connecting to the remote machine try this command
DISPLAY=:0 vino-preferences --display $DISPLAY
I guess vino-preferences read the $DISPLAY variable for the desktop to
refer to and the --display option for the desktop to send the window.
Personally, I would expect
By the way, I guess vino-preferences gets confused because the DISPLAY
command includes localhost but does not point to the local X server,
just to the ssh forwarding tunnel.
It can be seen from this example (and also shows why the trick with the
DISPLAY variable in my previous post works):
