I added one if-statement to patch #5 of the source package and this
fixed the bug for me.
IMHO this bug is a problem for unexperienced users so this should get
fixed in feisty final!

Am i stupid or does it change nothing if i mark a attachment as patch?
Whoever is responsible of this thread should delete the second file (and this
posting)
I'm sorry again (but there should be a feature to edit a post) ;)

Cube still broken, starting 'Desktop Effects' capplet with it enable
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-panel
If desktop-effects with cube are enabled the workspace switcher will
correctly show only one workspace 'cause the 4 sides of the cube are
regarded as 'virtual desktops'. If you increase the number of workspaces
you won't be able to select diff
Oh you're right, now the problem is gone for me too.
I'm now using the newest nvidia driver, installed with the nvidia-installer.
When the problem occured I used the driver from linux-restricted-modules.

Presentation won't start with desktop effects activated
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1
The problem seems to be fixed for me.
With the latest kernel-update I noticed that my drive is mapped to /dev/hda
again (instead of sda). So I removed the workaround (which would not effect the
drive anyway since it doesnt show up /sys/class/scsi_disk/ anymore) and the hdd
still shuts down prop
On my Samsung X11 I had the same problem and the modules fixed it too.
Will the fix be released with feisty-updates or will we need fixed
modules for every new version?

Same for me on my Samsung X11 notebook like Tormod predicted. Does
anyone know if theres a possibility to get the driver from the last

Is it correct that gutsy now uses compiz fusion? Than it should work now
because it works with beryl under feisty!

I managed it with a script in /etc/rc0.d/ which writes "1" to

Simply write a file at "/etc/rc0.d/S00hdd-shutdown-workaround" which

Using feisty i'm not able to start a presentation in Impress if desktop-effects

The Impress GUI looks like the presentation was started but it won't show up.
The only way to get back to normal edit mode is to close the file.
