I'd like to add some more information. For reasons not relating to this
issue, I reinstalled. When I reinstalled from the desktop CD, I still
got a blank screen, so I went ahead and installed from the Alternate CD,
and I had no problems. The Ubuntu loading screen showed up like it
should.

The fix to this would be to have the newest ATI driver (8.36.5) added to
the restricted modules.
I just installed it manually, and so far it seems to resolve the issue
for me. The instructions I followed can be found here:

The problem still exists as my RAID array was again destroyed. I am
forced to reconstruct the array in the controller's BIOS after install.
Would you be able to tell me how to install dmraid during OS
installation? I don't recall seeing a way to do this.

hi all,
just wanted to add that i just experienced this bug as well. i'm running
hardy amd64, fully updated. been working fine with vmware server 1.05,
as you mentioned corey, i just used ctrl-alt-enter to switch to full
screen in my win xp guest and upon return to window mode, no shift, caps
lock
No problem. I had this problem before and it was so bad. But it seemed to
have just disappeared. I am glad, everything would freeze and would stay
like that for a while, it was really annoying.
