Just logged out to end the drum roll sound and realised that I too have
the error message: wrong username and password on the then new login
screen although I didn't enter anything yet, i.e. the error message is

Trying to eject my iPod Shuffle (1st gen.) via Gnome's Eject button.

Crashed after clicking a javascript.print() button, which subsequently
opened the print dialog.

Hardware Toshiba M200 Tablet with Toshiba Docking Station.
When used in Laptop mode -> Hibernate -> Restart in Docking Station ==>
no screen displayed, not on external (docking station connected) monitor
but also not internal. Have to (completely) boot with Laptop in Docking
Have the same problem. No sound after waking up from hibernation
(booting up Ubuntu). Attached uname, lspci -vv, lspci -vvn and
dmidecode.
Loging out and Login in solves the problem. Sound is back on. Didn't try

Sorry. I'm a newbie. I just installed Ubuntu 8.04 on my M200. My Toshiba
M200 is in a docking station with external monitor connected on the
docking station's VGA.
After Ubuntu suggested the use of the nvidia driver, I enabled it. After
doing so and rebooting my screen was gone and only visible on

I am on amd64 karmic koala Ubuntu 9.10.
I used the Admin menu "Hardware Drivers" to install the sl-modem driver.
During that the system hung itself up and the caps-lock began to blink
(that was the last thing to see alive, mouse would not move everything
else was frozen up).
Patched and installed new .dpkg according to instructions from Matt
Davey (written on 2009-05-18). Thanks a lot!

Thanks guys. I'm new to programming. Had to use Eclipse in School on
Windows, so I thought let's use it on Ubuntu. What a shock it was so bad
on Ubuntu :-( Nothing worked, no Java highlighting, no text editor, no

I compiled openssh 5.1 from intrepid on hardy, but it still does not
work. Strangly, I’m no longer getting an error message from mod_pam that
setuid fails, although pam_unix reports that the session is actually

It seams I am faced with about the same problem. My host is an almost
clean setup of Ubuntu server 8.04 LTS and guest is JeOS 8.04. When I
call shutdown in guest everything behaves as expected. Guest shuts down
and virsh list shows guest as shutdown. But when I use:
virsh -c qemu:///system shutdow
don't know if it's relevant, but I'm running intrepid in a vmware fusion
vm.

There is a typo in in Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10 which makes it
unpossible to use vscanf() for development (it calls vfscanf, which
segfaults because of the missing file parameter). The fix is from

after it in rc2.d from starting (on my installation, this includes

I have no problems with this input devices in Ubuntu Intrepid anymore.

Errors about krb5 in upgrade process. "Could not install krb5-config".
At the end "Update manager failed to install"

I don't think the bug is only VLC. Since I upgraded to Ubuntu 9.04 amd64, all
PulseAudio applications don't use subwoofer anymore.
PulseAudio is configured 6 channel mode, and the order is checked OK by a
successful speaker-test : I can hear sound in each speaker at the right time,
and subwoofe
