It turns out that the webcam stopped working altogether, even on other
operating systems. I believe Ubuntu fried the webcam firmware. So i
returned it while my receipt and warranty were still valid and forgot to

Same problem while copying/playing/browsing music files on a network drive;
As Patrick said - my Nautilus FIFO count rises to 1022+ and nautilus gradually
stops responding, icons don't display properly, and when opening folders I get
the error "The folder contents could not be displayed".

without restarting the system launched update from update-manager gui.
Sudden;y the update manager crashed and asked for a restart.

I found one thread which says following
go to alt-f2
run gconf-editor
go to apps/evolution/calendar/notify
unselect notify with tray
i did this but not yet restarted the computer so the pop ups are still
annoying me let me try restarting ubuntu
