Same problem with dell xps m1330 (nVidia GeForce 8400M GS). Happened after
upgrading to 8.10.
Fans starts at full speed, stop, restart, stop when I boot the laptop.
After a while they are on at full speed all the time (lots of noise).

I have exactly the same problem here. After rebooting I have to manually
change the timezone to the correct location every time, otherwise there
is no weather information in the system tray. Exactt wrote he fixed the
problem, but it is not clear to me how he did this.

I got things working though. I use wicd on this computer in stead of
networkmanager (problems with an atheros adapter in NM). I was using the
wired connection, which was not the default connection. Because of this,
after log in,
I have the same problem with my 160GB external HDD (ext3). It used to
work in edgy and dapper. Now it does not auto mount with feisty (and
fedora 7). It is listed by the command fdisk -l as sdb1. I noticed that
my internal HDD partitions are now called sdax, which used to be hdax,
but I don't know
I tried FAT32, but it still does not automatically mount my external
HDD. Anyway, I don't think forcing people to use FAT32 in stead of EXT3
is an improvement.

installer chooses wrong wireless
Same massive memory leak here, however without the high CPU usage. I am
also using 10.10 64 bit. I think the problem started after a recent
update (using the proposed repository). I am not sure if it is related,
but I also noticed that the calendar in the side panel no longer
indicates if there are
10.10 is not any better with Windows 7 as near as I can tell. I think
installing on a partition would be much easier. I only wanted wubi for
cross platform read and write between hard drive. There seems to be
always way more trouble with linux being compatible with NTFS than
Windows reading t
